Senior Security Engineer
Location: Remote (US East Coast)
Employment Type: Full-time, Remote-First
Compensation: $180,000 – $190,000 (base) + equity & benefits
About the Role
We’re hiring a Senior Security Engineer to lead and scale our security program across engineering and operations. You’ll embed security best practices into development and infrastructure workflows, drive automation of core security tooling, and strengthen controls spanning identity, CI/CD, cloud, and threat detection. This is a hands-on role where you’ll collaborate with engineers, platform teams, and product stakeholders to build secure systems and improve company-wide resilience.
What You’ll Do
- Drive the technical direction of the security program — build, operate, and improve security systems and automation.
- Design, implement, and maintain identity and access management systems (SSO, role-based access, group sync).
- Integrate security into software delivery and infrastructure workflows (DevSecOps) with automated tooling.
- Lead security controls for collaboration, cloud services, code repositories, and build pipelines.
- Manage SIEM, DLP, logging, and detection platforms; develop meaningful detection rules and alerting.
- Serve as the security SME across engineering teams — advise, document, and influence secure decision-making.
- Champion security best practices and compliance frameworks (e.g., SOC 2, NIST, OWASP).
- Contribute to incident response, post-incident analysis, and ongoing risk assessments.
Who You Are
- 5+ years of experience in security engineering, DevSecOps, or platform security roles.
- Deep experience with identity systems (Okta, Google Workspace, SAML/OIDC), permissions automation, and access controls.
- Strong background in building automated security tooling in CI/CD and cloud environments.
- Hands-on experience with SIEM, DLP, monitoring, and alerting systems.
- Comfortable writing automation (e.g., Python, Go) and using IaC tools (Terraform, CloudFormation).
- Familiar with security frameworks (SOC 2, CIS benchmarks, NIST, OWASP) and compliance controls.
- Excellent communicator — able to translate technical risks to engineering and business audiences.
Why Join
You’ll influence how security is adopted across the company and help shape a scalable security foundation. The role offers competitive pay, equity ownership, premium benefits (medical, dental, vision), a remote-first culture, and flexible time off. Our values emphasize simplicity, ownership, and community-driven collaboration.
