A powerhouse firm with the heart of a boutique, is seeking a Financial Systems Manager in our New York office. Under general supervision of the Chief Financial Officer, the Financial Systems Manager will be responsible for the maintenance and development of the firms’ financial systems infrastructure. They will need to have in-depth experience working with SQL database systems and their interconnection to various applications including the firm’s accounting system (Aderant). They are also expected to be self-motivated, possess problem-solving skills, and recommend new technologies/processes to improve performance. The ability to collaborate and effectively communicate with all levels of personnel is essential for this position. The Financial Systems Manager must be flexible and highly committed to quality, customer service, teamwork, and supporting Firm and department goals in a fast-paced environment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Oversees and ensures the continuity of the firm’s financial and accounting systems, the integrity of financial data, and safeguards and controls.
- Maintain, deploy, upgrade and troubleshoot the firms SQL server infrastructure on premise and via Azure/Citrix.
- Provide system maintenance, administration, end-user training and problem resolution for the financial systems environment.
- Technical lead and primary support for all business intelligence, custom reporting, budgeting/forecasting, matter planning and other reporting in: Aderant, Intellistat, Chrome River, Big Hand apps and other applications.
- Serve as technology lead for various Finance team projects, software implementations, upgrades, integrations, cloud migrations and financial systems.
- Work directly with Aderant or consultants to deploy to and maintain a secure, cloud-based environment. Also, develop/customize billing templates and custom queries, reports and dashboards for use by the Accounting department and throughout the Firm using SSRS, SQL, Power BI and other applications.
- Responsible for the consistency and integrity of all data feeds in/out of existing Finance systems to financial institutions or various firm systems such as the Firm’s HRIS and CRM.
- Analyze system performance discrepancies and recommend improvements.
- Design, develop, and maintain data pipelines, data storage solutions, and data processing/integrations.
- Design scalable database solutions that maintain critical reliability and high availability.
- Implementing and enforcing SQL database policies, standards, and best practices.
- Assist various teams with applications that require database access including Chrome River, PrebillManager, Intellistat and iTimeKeep.
- Perform backup, recovery, and restoration of SQL databases.
- Oversee system security by authorizing access to users through design and/or modification of security profiles, adjusting as needed for changing requirements for responsible systems.
- Maintain up to date system/process documentation and procedural guidelines.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Must Have:
- A minimum of five years of IT experience, with three years in a Financial Systems Analyst role.
- Expert knowledge of SQL Server systems and highly reliable, highly available technologies.
- A solid knowledge of SQL database concepts, languages, and tools, such as SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, or Azure SQL Databases / SQL Servers.
- 3+ years of experience with Aderant Expert
- 3+ years of experience with development tools
- Extensive knowledge of the Aderant Expert Classic and Framework platform, including customization, database structure, and design studio, Docudraft bill formatting.
- Proficient in development tools such as Visual Studio with SQL, SSRS, SSIS, SharePoint, C#, .NET, ASP.NET, and PowerShell.
- Additionally experienced with Office 365 products like MS Access, Ms Excel, Power Apps, and BI tools.
- Experience with other financial systems: Expert Image, EIS, Chrome River, and financial systems warehouses.
- Knowledgeable with scripting languages such as PowerShell and .NET.
- Experience with on-premises to cloud database migrations.
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate within the Finance and IT organizations as well as the project and application development teams and outside consultants.

- Strategic thinking and searching for ways to improve processes/use of technology tools and can identify and anticipate potential issues

- Experience with Power BI, automation, and orchestration tools.
- Expert knowledge of PowerShell scripting
- Experience maintaining and working in a cloud environment.
EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION
Minimum of an Associate’s Degree, Bachelor’s degree preferred and three years relevant on the job work experience for a law firm or professional services firm.
The salary range displayed is specifically for those potential hires who will work or reside in New York, if selected for the role.
