Senior Alumni Manager

Under the leadership and general direction of the Chief Marketing Officer, and in collaboration with the Business Development (BD) Department Directors, the Senior Alumni Manager will oversee the continued development and implementation of the firm’s alumni program and initiatives. The Senior Alumni Manager will enhance the firm's formal program to help build and foster an active working partnership between firm attorneys/personnel and alumni. He or she will accomplish this by further developing the necessary infrastructure to identify; profile and monitor alumni; classifying and prioritizing alumni for individualized outreach efforts; organizing networking events; creating targeted marketing materials; and raising the profile of the firm through various online and social media outlets. The Senior Alumni Manager will work closely with his/her colleagues in the BD Department and across the firm’s other operational departments to implement all initiatives.


Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the firm and BD Department leadership on the development and execution of a holistic strategy to foster a strong alumni community.
  • In coordination with the Communications Director, manage the process and systems for maintaining and tracking alumni contact information and profile data, and oversee data accessibility, timeliness and quality control. 
  • Develop internal messaging to communicate the value, benefits and goals of the alumni program.
  • Assist attorneys and senior operational staff members in establishing and building relationships with alumni. 
  • In coordination with BD colleagues, work closely with attorneys to identify and advance business development opportunities with firm alumni.
  • In coordination with the Communications team, develop and execute an external communications plan, which may include alumni-focused newsletters, thought leadership pieces, social media channels and speaking opportunities.
  • In coordination with the Career Development team, develop strategies and platforms to support the professional development of alumni.
  • Pair up with the firm’s events team to plan and execute networking events.
  • Collaborate with professional staff members to exchange information and ensure that the initiatives and operations of the alumni program co-exist seamlessly with other business development and client development programming, including diversity and women initiatives. 
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the alumni program, including a dedicated resource, and its supporting team contributors, as well as other assignments provided by the CMO.


Required Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, English or Business. Master’s or J.D. is preferred.
  • More than six years of experience in a successful business development or alumni role in academia or a professional services environment.
  • Significant experience is required in business development and strategic communications planning.
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills (e.g., writing, editing, oral and presentation skills), and highly organized with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in an environment with shifting priorities to meet time-sensitive deadlines, as well as manage multiple projects simultaneously, including confidential matters.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent inter-personal skills.
  • Proactive and outgoing personality, coupled with a strong client service attitude.
  • Resourceful, driven attitude with a genuine desire and energy to use a “whatever it takes” approach to ensure team success.
  • Proficient in a range of computer software applications, including databases, MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
