Firm's Practice Development function is responsible for the design, creation and management of a suite of knowledge solutions which enable Partners and lawyers to find, access, and utilize knowledge and IP in the course of business development and client delivery. Within this function, the Global Research team is responsible for a range of services with particular emphasis on establishing and delivering research products to support the Partners’ and the firm’s strategy and business development activities. The Research Analyst scopes and develops insightful client and company research which contributes effectively to go-to-market and business planning efforts.


Responsibilities
  • Work closely with the Global Research Lead to support the Practice Development research strategy and associated products and services (focusing primarily on the firm’s Client Brief product)
  • Undertake and synthesize client and company research into insightful outputs (including Client Briefs) using a range of internal and external information sources, specialized tools and market data.
  • Collaborate with outsourced research agency support to deliver Client Briefs to partners in a timely fashion, managing request intake and quality assurance processes as needed.
  • Develop and deliver research products that take into account local requirements and preferences whilst retaining a common and global approach and exploring opportunities for enhancement and automation.
  • Assist with the day-to-day intake of requests for client and company research, responding to and prioritizing these on an ad hoc, project or program basis.
  • Act as a subject matter expert and point of contact with regard to research, keeping abreast of developments in the legal sector and wider business environment.
  • Collaborate with Global Research colleagues on Client Briefs and contribute to other research projects as needed, including market & industry research and competitive intelligence initiatives.
  • Help maintain quality standards for research outputs and deliverables, gathering requester feedback on a continuous basis for input into the Practice Development and overall programs.
  • Work with the Global Research Lead and other Practice Development team members to ensure products such as Client Briefs remain aligned with wider strategy and the evolving needs of the firm’s clients.
  • Participate in regular meetings of the Global Research team and Practice Development programs, as well as associated and relevant project meetings.
  • Liaise with other business support functions as necessary in course of duties, including the business development and library teams.


Qualifications
  • Bachelors Degree required. Post graduate qualification in an information, research or business -related discipline preferred (but not essential).
  • Good track record of delivering business research and information in a commercial or professional services organization. Legal background an advantage (but not essential).
  • Minimum 2-3 years’ experience in a business research or similar post-graduate role, with good understanding of associated sources, techniques and technologies.
  • Ability to interpret and translate business requirements into relevant research projects, products and services, co-developing these with requesters as needed.
  • Confident in scoping requests effectively, gathering feedback to ensure continuous improvement within an agile, high-performing project management environment.
  • Knowledge of both qualitative and quantitative research methods, including innovative visual techniques to display information and data.
  • Progressing knowledge of effective business writing and structured thinking methodologies; able to synthesize a variety of research inputs in a concise fashion.
  • Focused on drawing commercial linkages between the research undertaken and opportunities.
  • Good understanding of the critical success criteria for a high-quality research function, including ensuring that products and services are impactful and actionable.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with peers across practice areas and regions.
  • Spanish language capability highly preferred.
