Senior Network Engineer

Under the supervision of the Network Manager, the Sr. Network Engineer will assist the Network Group in all implementation, maintenance, upgrade, management and security of communications global infrastructure (voice, data and wireless).  Assist in establishing network standards by conferring with the Network Manager, vendors, and technology partners with a focus on WAN/LAN routing protocols, data centers, security / access requirements, and performance. Monitor and maintain network performance metrics including availability, utilization, throughput and latency via the selection, installation, configuration and maintenance of monitoring systems / equipment to ensure best possible service across the enterprise. Perform necessary routine upgrades of all network hardware and software utilizing change management processes. The engineer will also ensure solution and operational issues are thoroughly documented and consistent with our long-term roadmap for data networking service capabilities.

  • Lead complex troubleshooting efforts and network infrastructure projects. This will require evening and weekend work on occasion
  • Troubleshoot network issues using various tools such as network analyzers i.e. Wireshark
  • Responsible for the installation, operation, and on-going maintenance of WAN, LAN and WLAN environment, and communications infrastructure including the associated hardware, software, systems and relationships (vendors, peers, etc.) used to provide services
  • Run application performance and packet analysis
  • Research, develop, and implement new network technologies and best practices
  • Maintaining a secure transfer of data to multiple locations via internal and external networks
  • Monitor network performance and integrity
  • Automate tasks and monitor their effectiveness
  • Automate network deployments using Python, Ansible, or other automation tools
  • Work with emerging technologies such as SD-WAN or Data Center products
  • Create, oversee and test security measures (e.g. access authentication and disaster recovery)
  • Develop and document system standards for computer and network device
  • Maintain complete technical documentation
  • Suggest improvements to network performance, capacity and scalability

  • Exceptional customer service attitude, skills, and sense of urgency
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral
  • In-depth understanding of communication protocols (mainly TCP/IP) and routing protocols (e.g. BGP, EIGRP, OSPF)
  • Familiarity with access control models and network security
  • Remote Access (IPSec and SSL VPN, DMVPN, AAA, RADIUS)  
  • Knowledge of Quality of Service (Campus and WAN)
  • Must have good communication skills, shows tact, effective listening skills, follow through and anticipates questions while being prepared with answers or follow-up
  • Ability to work independently with little to no supervision
  • Knowledge of coding languages for scripting (e.g Python, Perl)
  • Experience with network diagnostic, monitoring and analysis tools
  • Solid understanding of network operating systems (Cisco IOS & NX-OS)
  • Sharp troubleshooting skills
  • Candidate must be a team player and be able to follow processes and procedures
  • Self-disciplined, self-starter, professional who can successfully bring projects to closure with minimum direction, guidance and oversight
  • Minimum Cisco Certification CCNP
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a technology related field or equivalent experience
  • 8+ years professional experience working in a large LAN/WAN environment

  • Experience with Cisco Video Conference Systems
  • Experience working with Cisco Meeting Manager (Acano) Collaboration Systems
  • Familiar with SIP, H.323, G.729, G.711and QOS
  • Aruba and Cisco Wireless
