Communications Specialist

The Communications Specialist is an experienced writer and editor who is responsible for the creation and distribution of primarily client-facing firm communications. The Specialist is the communications team’s go-to on all editorial matters, from house style to copy editing and beyond. The Specialist also manages the department’s Editorial Board, with oversight from the Managing Director, which reviews and prioritizes the news and thought leadership content on the firm’s website.

  • Manage the full workflow process for the firm’s client alerts, including editorial review, production management, statistics tracking, and subsequent syndication. Maintain the Style Guide; apply firm style to all reviewed communications and publications; answer style questions and address and research new style issues as needed.
  • Provide full editorial support and project management for the firm’s Financial Services Weekly News Roundup to clients and peers.
  • Manage the department’s Editorial Board; process includes content review and tracking, website highlight updates, and bi-weekly team check-ins.
  • Draft and edit all attorney bios, including for lateral partners.
  • As needed and requested, review and edit other client-facing communications coming from the marketing department.

  • Excellent writing and editing skills; effective communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability and willingness to build strong relationships and navigate across a matrixed organization.
  • Ability to successfully manage a board, solicit diverse viewpoints, and diplomatically reach consensus.
  • Strong project management and process implementation skills.
  • Impeccable attention to detail.

  • 4+ years of corporate communications (preferably in legal/professional services).
  • BA, BS or equivalent preferably in English, Communications, Public Relations, or another writing-intensive field.  Master’s degree a plus.
