Messaging and Remote Access Engineer

Reporting to the Messaging and Remote Access Manager, the Messaging and Remote Access Engineer is responsible for the delivery of remote access and messaging services. They are also responsible for providing tier 2/3 support, incident, problem, outage management and monitoring operations for Microsoft Exchange 2013/2016 , Office 365 and Citrix.

  • Continuously monitor the environment and proactively address or create plans to address risk and anticipated issues due to upcoming infrastructure upgrades, security patches, updates to other integrated applications, etc.
  • Working closely with the senior IT staff, facilitate collaborative work teams to resolve any infrastructure issues related to the Citrix and messaging platforms (Network Services, Security, Server Admins, Backup and Storage team and other applications teams).
  • Be available outside normal business hours to address critical messaging and remote access issues.
  • Develop and maintain operational support documentation for systems.
  • Define multi-year messaging and Citrix roadmap, including release schedule and improvement initiatives.
  • Continuously monitor platform security vulnerabilities and remediate as necessary.
  • Management, configuration, and maintenance of global Exchange 2013/2016 hybrid Office 365 infrastructure.
  • Manage mailbox quotas and retention policies, Exchange databases and fragmentation, legal hold and discovery for user mailboxes, etc.
  • Perform senior level analysis and support of Citrix 7.13 Xenapp farms.
  • Maintaining documentation of Citrix licensing and appliance hardware inventory.
  • Maintaining Citrix environment on a day-to-day basis (deploying applications, supporting tickets, troubleshooting user issues, etc.).
  • Monitoring Citrix environment event logs and services to be proactive in identifying potential issues.
  • Thorough knowledge of Active Directory (management, best practices, and security concepts), Federation Services, and underlying technologies (DNS, DHCP, PKI, group policies, etc.).
  • Experience working with virtualization technologies, including VMware.
  • Strong knowledge and experience with PowerShell and the ability to apply this skill in managing, monitoring, and troubleshooting scenarios.
  • Other responsibilities as they may be assigned from time-to- time.

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in an IT related field preferred.
  • 3 - 5 years of hands on experience with messaging and remote access required.
  • Experience in a highly regulated, secured and audited environment.
  • Experience with Microsoft Skype for Business.
  • Experience with Office 365.
  • Citrix XenApp, XenDesktop, XenMobile, and NetScaler administration skills.
  • Understanding of Exchange 2013/2016 hybrid Office 365.
  • Experience with VMWare ESX 5.5+.
  • Experience with Citrix NetScaler.
  • Windows Server administration experience.
  • Experience working in a multi-site, distributed environment.
  • Experience with email filtering solutions such as Mimecast.
  • Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) and/or Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS).
  • Must have the ability to manage timelines and meet tight deadlines.
